Astounded by its skill and beauty, the friends return back to their village and recreate the spider’s techniques and weave cloth, by hand, out of black and white fibers from a raffia tree. They present this cloth to their King. The King decrees this first Kente Cloth as royal clothing and accelerates kente’s standing as an attire reserved for very important events. The tradition of kente weaving and its use for special occasions continues to this day.
